The constitution of UNESCO states that the member states of the organization should establish national commissions to form bridges between UNESCO on the one hand and the member state and civil society on the other.
The structure of the National Commission
The Commission is composed of experts from “civil society” in each of UNESCO’s areas of interest and representatives of the ministries relevant in the context of UNESCO (primarily the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation).
